Final Leaf Game ... What's Next?

The Leafs just played their final season game and won in overtime over the Wings.

I like 3 on 3, especially when the Leafs win.
But the game meant nothing

The real war/playoffs for the Leafs start on Sunday.

Las Vegas casinos have previously declared the Leafs as 12 - 1 odds for winning this year's Stanley Cup. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, with my prediction for this year, VEGAS NEVER LOSSES.

One thought.
Why would the Leafs' tall foreheads play the TOP 5 Marner/Matthews/Tavares/Knives/Willie in a nothing game?

Why take the chance that one or more of them who earn more than 50% of the team's goals would play a game that meant nothing and get injured?

Actually, as of the end of overtime of tonight's game, we don't know if any of the Top 5 are injured. Does the brass just want to entertain the ticket-buying Leaf Nation fans?

This may be another good reason to get rid of Shanahan.

I am a Leaf.
Cut me open, I'm Blue and White.

But I watch Ottawa, and how fast and determined they are, and they have that guy Giroux, and I cross my fingers and hope for the 2025 playoffs that our goalie tandem looks like Bower and Sawchuck of the 1960s.

  1. It looks like the Stars lost a star in Jason Robertson in a nothing game against the Preds last night.

  2. Cap issues prevented the Leafs from playing anyone else. Bring on the Battle of Ontario.

    1. Cap issues were created by Shanahnan because the buck stops with him ... another good reason to show him the door.

  3. I worry about the match-up with Ottawa. Leafs lost all the games against them. Having said that, I think that this is their best chance since 1967.

  5. Of the Big Four, only Tavares will go to the dirty corners , where hockey games are won !!

  6. I was seventeen years old when the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup. A long time has passed waiting for that next championship. Many of those years filled with hope of success, only to end in disappointment. This current edition offers more hope of success than that of past Leaf Teams. All the pressure is squarely on the shoulders of this current edition. Is this the year that the Leaf stars finally take hold of the team? I certainly hope so.
Seems that during the playoffs a "Cinderella Team" usually emerges, performing beyond expectations. My wish is that the Leafs, at least, go deep in the playoffs this year.
The Sens certainly have the parts to become that "Cinderella Team" and that's what makes me anxious about this year's "Battle of Ontario".

  7. It’s the curse of The Hammer! Toronto and Buffalo are cursed. Both teams effectively doomed S Ontario from getting another NHL club. Toronto and Buffalo fans have been devouring their perspective players since the entry cost for a second club was established. EAT’ Em RAW. From a disgruntled fan from the Hammer!
